National Camps

National Camps

Some biggest trips that a few Scouts participate in are the National and International Camps that Boy Scouts has available.  We recommend that each Scout attend at least one camp in his Scouting career to get the most out of his Scouting experience.  Below are a few of the camps available.

National Jamboree

Once every four years a national gathering of Scouts happens at The Summit Bechtel Reserve.  This brings 20,000+ scouts together for a week of camp and a few days in the nation's capitol.

Scout Base

From Philmont Scout Base in New Mexico, to Swamp Base in Louisiana , to Northern Tier Base in Minnesota, and Sea Base in Florida, there are multiple opportunities for Scouts to participate in a High Adventure Base.

Montana High Adventure Base.  We have an amazing choice of High Adventure Base activities right here in one of the biggest wilderness sections of the United States.

Fundraising for National Camps

One of the primary ways a Scout can earn their way to a National Camp is through concessions fund raising.  Each year we are given 10-15 opportunities to earn funds while running a concessions stand at an MSU function.

We appreciate the opportunity that MSU gives to the scouts in Troop 649 and we work hard to make sure we give MSU a quality crew to help with their functions.  Don't tell Ron I had my phone out for this picture.....shhhh.

Over the course of a few years, a Scout can earn all the funds needed to participate in one or two of these National Camps.
