The objectives of the Scouting program are often stated as the Aims of Scouting.  They are fitness, citizenship training and character development.

8 Methods of Scouting

The methods used in the Scouting program to achieve the aims are:  Ideals, Patrols, Outdoor Programs, Advancement, Association with Adults, Personal Growth, and Uniform.  The methods are designed to add to the scout's experience and development.

Boy-Led Troop

A key component of the scouting experience is the development of the scout as a leader.  As part of that experience, a scout will have the opportunity to lead his peers and adults in meetings, planning, and outings.
