Your Scout's Advancement

Picture

Trail to First Class

The basics of Scouting are the first few steps in a new scout's journey.  Fitness, Citizenship, and Outdoor Skills are just a few of the tasks a new Scout will learn on his way to earning his Scout, Tenderfoot, 2nd Class and 1st Class ranks.

Merit Badges

There are 135 different merit badges for a Scout to choose from.  The only limitation on learning new things is the Scout's willingness to pursue the topic.

Merit Badges must be started by a Scout or Scouts meeting with a leader and getting a merit badge card know as a blue card.  Then the Scout will meet with a Merit Badge Counselor to work through the requirements.  The final step is to enter the activity in Scoutbook and turn in the merit badge card to the Advancement Coordinator.

First Class to Eagle

A Scout's basic skills are learned on their way to 1st Class.  Over the next 2-5 years the Scout builds on those skills with additional merit badges, camps, leadership roles, and volunteer activities.  This develops the Scout's character on the way to earning the Eagle rank.

Additional leadership is demonstrated by Eagle candidates as they develop and orchestrate their Eagle project from conception to completion.  From re-landscaping the Belgrade Library, to adding parks to Hyalite Recreation Area, to making it easier for volunteers at God's Garden, an Eagle Scout's project should demonstrate leadership and have a lasting impact on the Scout's community.
